By earnest effort, discipline+self-control,
let de wise man build for himself an island
which no flood shall overwhelmed.

Choose de path that leads to nirvana;
and avoid das road to profit+pleasure.

Remember this always,
O disciple of Tathagata,
and strive always for wisdom.

Kappa,
for those struggling in midstream,
in great fear of das flood,
of growing old+(dying)-

For all those I say:

An island exists
where there is no place for impediments,
no place for clinging:

The island of no going beyond.

I call it

Nirvana,

de complete destruction of old age+(dying).

Remember, lh!
This body is like a clay pot.
Make my mind a fortress+
conquer Mara with de weapon of wisdom.

Guard my conquest always.

Remember that this body will soon lie in de earth--
Without life,
Without value,
Useless as a burned out integral(1/x)dx

Remember that this body is like froth,
of de nature of a mirage.

Break de flower-tipped arrows of Mara
and death will never touch me again.
